Tech Tarot Cards
A deck for the age of agents, scaling laws, and context windows. Not mysticism — pattern recognition dressed in symbolism.
A deck for the current moment
Tech Tarot is not fortune-telling. It is a structured way to externalize the patterns, tensions, and archetypes that govern building, funding, and shipping in the age of frontier models.
Each card names a force that is currently shaping (or quietly destroying) projects, companies, and careers. Use it alone, with a team, or as a prompt generator before making a hard call.

- Upright
- Visionary drive. The spark that starts something from nothing. Risk everything on a belief.
- Reversed
- Ego trap. Founder as bottleneck. Refusal to delegate or let the idea evolve.

- Upright
- Everything that fits in one pass. The sacred limit that forces clarity and compression.
- Reversed
- Token gluttony. Forgetting what was said three turns ago. Loss of coherence.

- Upright
- More compute, more intelligence. The beautiful, terrifying predictability of progress.
- Reversed
- Diminishing returns disguised as destiny. The law that no longer holds but we still worship.

- Upright
- Autonomy emerging from loops. Tool use as the new cognition. The system that acts.
- Reversed
- Hallucinated agency. Infinite tool calls that never quite land. The illusion of will.

- Upright
- Sacred redirection. Killing your darlings before they kill you. New life from old data.
- Reversed
- Whiplash. Changing direction so often the team loses faith in any direction.

- Upright
- Defensibility that compounds. Data, network, brand, or pure weirdness no one can copy.
- Reversed
- Paper moat. The feature everyone copies in six months. Defense that was only narrative.

- Upright
- Capital as fuel. The beautiful violence of spending to learn faster than anyone else.
- Reversed
- The fire that consumes the map. Runway measured in weeks, hope measured in slides.

- Upright
- The clean break. Liquidity as validation or escape hatch. The story that ends well.
- Reversed
- The acquihire that wasn't. Walking away with nothing but the lessons and the scars.
Pattern recognition, not mysticism
The original tarot was a card game that later became a tool for reflection. Tech Tarot follows the same path but starts from the opposite direction: it takes the real, recurring dramas of the industry and gives them symbolic weight.
When you draw The Burn reversed while staring at your runway, the card doesn't tell you something new. It gives the situation a name you can carry into the next conversation with your cofounders or your board.
Imported from bretkerr/techtarotcards. A living deck. Cards and meanings will evolve with the industry.
